Back to School—in July?

It’s purely voluntary, and it should be fun. Go back in time to the classrooms of Fairhaven’s

past, with no computers, no plumbing, and no heat!

The Fairhaven Historical Commission, Fairhaven Historical Society, and Fairhaven High School

Alumni welcome visitors to the town’s historic schools this summer.

In July, the Stone Schoolhouse at 40 North Street will be open Saturdays from 11 to 2. The

Academy Building will be open Saturdays, 11 to 2, with an informal talk about what it was like

to go to school in Fairhaven in the 18th and 19th centuries. The High School will offer tours on July 2, 9, 17, and 21 starting at 11:40.

In August, the Stone Schoolhouse will be open on the 16th and 30th; and the Academy

Building will be open Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm, with informal talks to be announced.
